Launching a brand from the ground up.

Hawthorn holds a special place in my heart because it was a self-initiated project, inspired by my watchmaking grandfather. From concept to fully fledged company, I tackled every obstacle along the way and grew immensely, both as a person and a designer.

Build and nurture relationships, learn from your mistakes, and give the people what they want.

It’s a complex problem to start a brand, design and engineer a watch, bring it to market, sell it both in-person and online. Research needed to be done on every last aspect of the project, from exploring market trends of watch purchases to how users interacted to buy a watch. One simple question dictated the entire project, “how can we offer something better, cheaper?” We used that thinking to create better physical product at a lower cost, but also a better user experience in less time. Time is money, after all.
